French Still Life – Apples and Pear

A finely observed still life capturing the warmth and restraint of mid-century French painting. Four apples and a pear rest upon a simple white plate — rendered in quiet balance with soft autumnal tones and a golden varnish that adds gentle depth to the scene.
The painting remains on its original keyed stretcher with intact tacking margins and is presented in its original wood frame with a gilt liner. The surface shows light, even craquelure and a natural amber toning to the varnish, consistent with age.

Guiol was a mid-century French painter known for still lifes and florals. References to her work appear in relation to the sculptor Daniel Jausserant, her son, with whom she lived in Paris during the late 1950s. Auction records confirm additional works dated into the mid to late 20th century.
