Antique French copper warming plate with integrated ironstone porcelain insert, designed to keep food warm at the table using hot water poured into the copper reservoir below. Known in France as a plat chauffant or chauffe-plat, these elegant serving pieces were used to serve individual plates or small dishes warm during long family meals and formal dinners.
