19th Century Keepsake Egg Box

19th Century Keepsake Egg Box

Sale Price:$65.00 Original Price:$80.00

Pretty keepsake egg shaped trinket box. The egg's shape has been a muse for artisans and craftsmen throughout history. The Fabergé eggs of the Russian Imperial family are perhaps the most famous example of this artistic legacy. Crafted in intricate detail, these luxurious pieces symbolized opulence and the skill of the jeweler. Similarly, in folk art, painted eggs have been used in celebrations, most notably during Easter, representing resurrection and new beginnings.

This footed egg ‘box’ stands on small feet and opens in the middle. It is decorated with bird and floral elements and was perhaps at one time used for a keepsake box or gift presentation. 12 cm tall. Antique - 19th century.

  • As with all vintage and antique items, please look closely at the details in the images. We note breakage or chips if apparent, but the patina which is inherent of age, or wear from 50-100+ years of existence and use -- is assumed for older pieces and is not considered a flaw or defect.
