Vintage Pyrex Egg Coddling Jars
Vintage Pyrex Egg Coddling Jars
Set of three Pyrex egg coddlers with original box and instructions (in several languages including English and French). This surely survived time by being stored in their box and are in perfect condition. Both functional for cooking eggs or for attractive storage of salt or spices. Rarely found as a complete set, these date to 1940-1960.
Coddled eggs are gently cooked in their shells or a specialized coddler, resulting in a creamy texture, similar to poached eggs. To make them, add butter, salt, and pepper to the coddler, crack in an egg, and include herbs or cheese for flavor. Seal the coddler and place it in simmering water, ensuring it reaches halfway up the sides. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the yolk is slightly runny and whites are just set. Serve atop toasted bread or as a luxurious breakfast addition, often with crème fraîche or fresh herbs, celebrating the elegance of French country cooking.
Why we love this…

As with all vintage and antique items, please look closely at the details in the images. We note breakage or chips if apparent, but the patina which is inherent of age, or wear from 50-100+ years of existence and use -- is assumed for older pieces and is not considered a flaw or defect.
