18th Century Normandy Copper Wedding Champagne Basin

18th Century Normandy Copper Wedding Champagne Basin

$895.00

A rare Normandy copper champagne basin made to celebrate marriage, richly decorated with traditional wedding motifs. The paired birds and basket symbolize union and abundance, while the engraved heart on the reverse and echoed heart shape in the handle mounts reinforce its commemorative purpose. Remarkably, this basin remains watertight and fully functional — still suited to chilling champagne for a gathering at the table.

Special Notes:

A rare and substantial Normandy copper wedding basin, handmade in the late 1700s and crafted from solid copper with a rolled rim and hand-seamed base — hallmarks of true multi-century workmanship.

Decorated with traditional marriage motifs — paired birds, a wedding basket, and a heart — this basin was made for celebration. Remarkably, it remains capable of holding ice and six bottles of champagne, while also serving as a striking centerpiece for the table or home.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece of French culinary and social history — equally at home in use, on display, or as part of a serious collection.

Why we love this…

With the exceptional ability to conduct heat efficiently, copper cookware promotes precision and excellence in cooking. Traditional tin lined interiors are virtually non-stick when used correctly. Cooking with copper is the best option for everything from sauces to slowly cooked stews, braising and oven gratins. It is unbeatable for confiture and pastry making.
