Antique French Wire Egg Basket — 19th Century
Antique French Wire Egg Basket — 19th Century
A wonderfully whimsical piece of 19th-century French art populaire — a hand-constructed wire egg basket in the form of a chicken.
Made by hand from bent and twisted iron wire, with all of the wonky charm that makes French folk pieces like this so irresistible. And yes — she can still happily hold the morning’s eggs.

As with all vintage and antique items, please look closely at the details in the images. We note breakage or chips if apparent, but the patina which is inherent of age, or wear from 50-100+ years of existence and use -- is assumed for older pieces and is not considered a flaw or defect.
