Petite Antique French Copper Poacher with Cover

Petite Antique French Copper Poacher with Cover

$245.00

A petite poacher for the smaller kitchen — or simply when you aren't cooking for a crowd. Dating to the late 1800s, this one has an oblong shape, two loop handles and a snug-fitting cover. It is still completely functional and a great size for cooking for two to four people — poaching, braising or anything that benefits from a slow simmer. Straight from the stovetop or oven to the table.

  • Dimensions: approx. 21 × 11 × 8 cm; 30 cm long including handles

  • Origin: France; solid copper with copper loop handles and fitted cover; tin-lined interior

  • Dating & attribution: late 19th century. Dating is approximate and based on the construction, copper rivets, form, handles and signs of hand manufacture consistent with French copper of the period.

Why we love this…

With the exceptional ability to conduct heat efficiently, copper cookware promotes precision and excellence in cooking. Traditional tin lined interiors are virtually non-stick when used correctly. Cooking with copper is the best option for everything from sauces to slowly cooked stews, braising and oven gratins. It is unbeatable for confiture and pastry making.
