French Footed Serving Plate with Cherry Tomato Motif
This was another flea market find that made me smile. The hand-painted cluster of cherry tomatoes immediately caught my eye. Today we think of cherry tomatoes as commonplace, but for many years they were considered something of a gourmet ingredient, often appearing in elegant French kitchens and on summer tables.
The raised foot gives this plate just enough height to make it equally at home serving pastries, fruit or cheese, or simply displayed in the kitchen when not in use.
