Antique French Copper Socca Pans

Antique French Copper Socca Pans

from $225.00

From the South of France, these antique copper pans were traditionally used to make socca, a thin flatbread made with chickpea flour. Socca has been served as street food in Nice and along the Mediterranean coast since the 1800s.

These beautiful old pans are still functional for baking, but would also be stunning as oversized serving platters or as an anchor for a table setting — piled with produce, candles or gathered greens.

We have two sizes available:

  • 38 cm — brass hanging ring - $225

  • 41.5 cm — iron hanging ring - $275

Both have substantial rolled rims and wonderful signs of age and use.

Dating & attribution: French, late 19th/early 20th century. The larger pan with its iron ring appears to be the earlier of the two.

Why we love this…

With the exceptional ability to conduct heat efficiently, copper cookware promotes precision and excellence in cooking. Traditional tin lined interiors are virtually non-stick when used correctly. Cooking with copper is the best option for everything from sauces to slowly cooked stews, braising and oven gratins. It is unbeatable for confiture and pastry making.
