18th-Century Norman Artisan Made Copper Plats

18th-Century Norman Artisan Made Copper Plats

$280.00

These stunning hand-worked copper ‘plats’ come from Normandy and date to the 18th century. Large, sculptural and wonderfully rustic, they have exactly the warmth and character we look for in authentic French interiors and inspired spaces.

Made individually by hand hundreds of years ago, the copper still carries the marks of that process: rolled edges, visible hammering, variations in the surface and beautifully formed raised bases. No two could ever have been precisely alike.

Hang on a wall among old paintings and collected objects, display on a kitchen dresser or open shelf, or use it on a table beneath flowers, candles or a great pile of seasonal fruit. SOLD INDIVIDUALLY.

  • Approximately 34 cm diameter × 5 cm high

  • Hand-worked and hammered copper with a separately formed raised base

  • Normandy, France; 18th century, attributed through provenance, form, construction, materials, workmanship and comparison with documented period Norman copperwork
