Called Dutch oven or 'cocotte' in French, these types of covered stew pots are the ultimate in all-purpose cooking. For both stovetop and oven use, they are stunning for serving oven-to table, or on the stovetop to finish a sauce. It is exceptional for slow cooking stews, soups, ragouts and sauces.

This antique pot dates to the 1880s-1900. It is 24 cm in diameter and 12 cm tall / or approx. 5.5 liters / quarts. This size easily accommodates a whole chicken, large roast or family size stew.

Important details:

The size number ‘24’ is stamped on the cover along with the chef’s initials ‘ BM’. At over one hundred years old, it retains it’s original charm that indicates years of use in a professional kitchen. Handmade by copper artisans in the 19th century, we have restored the interior using the same technique that would have been used centuries ago in order to maintain it’s history and integrity. Swipe patterns or marks are inherent of this technique and do not impact the quality or efficiency of cooking.

Most of the cookware we sell dates to from the 18th to the 20th century and was created by copper artisans like Mauviel, Atelier du Cuivre, Gaillard - Paris and Bourgeat and made for culinary professionals through E. Dehillerin, Paris, Allez Freres, Grand Magasins du Louvre and A la Mangere.
