Antique French Copper “Pasta Pot” — c. 1900

Antique French Copper “Pasta Pot” — c. 1900

$385.00

Technically, this is a stockpot. But in the Rabbit Hill kitchen, I would call it a pasta pot. At 20 cm, it is just the right size for a family pasta dinner — big enough for plenty of water without hauling out one of those enormous stockpots we all seem to own.

Of course, it is just as useful for making bone broth or stock, a big batch of soup or a slow-simmered stew. The tall straight sides, beautiful brass handles and freshly tinned interior make this one ready to go straight back to work.

  • Dimensions — 20 cm diameter × 20 cm tall; stamped “20” / 5.5–6 liters (about 6 quarts)

  • Origin — France; solid copper with substantial riveted brass handles and tin-lined interior

  • Approx. age — Late 19th to early 20th century, c. 1890–1910. Dating is approximate and based on the construction, handle style, rivets, number stamp and characteristics consistent with French culinary copper from the period.

A really useful size — and exactly the sort of antique copper I love most: beautiful enough to leave out and practical enough to use all the time.

Why we love this…

With the exceptional ability to conduct heat efficiently, copper cookware promotes precision and excellence in cooking. Traditional tin lined interiors are virtually non-stick when used correctly.
