Antique French White Ironstone Pitcher
A classic antique French white pitcher with a rounded body, high curved handle and beautifully shaped pouring spout. Simple, useful and endlessly versatile, it is lovely for water at the table or filled with flowers from the garden.
Dimensions: 20 cm handle to spout × 14 cm tall; 11 cm base
Material: White ironstone / faïence fine
Dating & attribution: France, late 19th century. The underside bears two impressed marks, including a capital “D,” or “VV” but the maker has not been identified. Age is assessed through the form, construction, materials, workmanship, decorative style and natural signs of age and use.
In excellent antique condition, with only natural signs of age to the underside.
Additional information regarding age : Comparable Creil-et-Montereau pitcher dates specifically to the Barluet & Cie period, 1876–1884, and comparable marked Sarreguemines and Longwy white pitchers are also catalogued as late/19th-century wares.
